Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators (Dysport, Xeomin and Botox) are used to relax specific muscles of the face to produce a softening effect to the lines of the area. The neuromodulator is injected into a muscle that causes a temporary reduction in the strength of the muscle contraction. This effect may start to occur in 3 to 4 days after injection with full results seen in 14 days. The duration of the relaxation effect on average is 3 to 4 months, however, this can be a shorter or longer length based on the individual.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that's not always related to heat or exercise. It can have a profound effect on ones quality of living. With the correct treatment it can last up to 9 months. Can be covered by insurance.

Bruxism is a problem in which you unconsciously grind or clench your teeth. You may grind or clench your teeth during the day, or at night while you sleep. Leaving you with muscle soreness, fatigue or enlarged masseters.
The masseter muscle runs through the rear part of the cheek from the temporal bone to the lower jaw on each side and closes the jaw in chewing.
Dysport/Xeomin/Botox can help relax the masseter muscle, in turn relieving pain or tension from grinding or clenching your teeth.
Causes of an enlarged masseter muscle can include:

•TMJ disorders
•gum chewing
•clenching/grinding teeth

Avoid blood thinners such as alcohol, aspirin products, NSAIDS, high dose garlic, ginseng, gingko or other herbal supplements up to three days before treatment but first talk to your family doctor. If you are on any other blood thinning products please consult your family doctor before treatment. You are not a candidate for Dysport, Xeomin or Fillers if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event such as a wedding or vacation.

IPL Hair Removal

We provide advanced treatment options with our Dermalase IPL and Hair Removal System, a Health Canada-approved technology that utilizes broad-spectrum light to deliver long-term hair removal and address various skin concerns.

Our clinic uses medical-grade equipment to ensure safe, effective, and affordable treatments for both men and women. This technology uses a large sapphire crystal head that allows our staff to treat you quickly and the built in, exceptional -5 degree cooling system keeps you comfortable so longer treatments have minimal to no discomfort.
Using superior components and high quality German made bulbs, the DermaLase IPL is effective at treating most skin tones for both Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation.
Before your first session, a brief 15-minute consultation with our skincare nurse is required to evaluate your skin type, determine your suitability for treatment, and discuss the necessary steps to prepare your skin for optimal results.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Hair Removal can reduce hair growth by up to 90% in three months. Results can last for years, but touch-ups may be needed.

It begins by trimming away the hair above the skin. You may be asked to do this the day prior to your appointment. You will be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright flashes of light. Next, a cold gel (similar to ultrasound gel) may be spread over the treatment area. The IPL hand-piece is then pulsed over your skin and begins disabling your unwanted hairs. When the gel is removed, much of the hairs will be intact in the skin with a bit of redness to the skins surface. Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. Sometimes no discomfort is felt at all. No local anesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.

Treatments can take from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on which area is being treated.

Discontinue sun tanning and the use of tanning beds for 4 weeks and self-tanning creams at least 10 days before treatment. Always use an SPF-30 or greater sunscreen on all exposed treatment areas and re-apply as necessary. Wear protective, light occluding hats and clothing.
Areas of treatment MUST be shaved the night before or the morning of treatment.
No waxing, tweezing, bleaching, or depilatories between treatments. If you remove the root of the hair, there is nothing for the laser to detect. Bleaching or using Nair can cause burning.
Do not wear makeup, deodorant perfume, or powder on areas to be treated during the appointment.
Avoid applying any irritants to your face, such as any products containing hydroquinone, bleaching creams, masks, exfoliants, Retin-A, Retinol, Benzoyl peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic acids, Astringents, Chemical Peels, and the use of Nair for at least 5 days prior to your treatment.

Treat the area gently. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at the treated areas.
Avoid very hot showers or baths, soaking in a hot tub, or swimming in a chlorinated pool as it may irritate the skin. Pat the skin dry after bathing or showering.
Avoid direct sun exposure (natural and artificial) for 5-7 days following each treatment. Tanning beds and tanning creams should also be avoided between treatments. Use a sunblock with an SPF of 30 for the face and body to provide protection between treatments.
Makeup can be worn post-treatment.
If dryness occurs, apply a thin layer of aloe vera or Biophora's Dermarich to the treated area several times a day until evidence of dryness has dissipated.
If the skin is irritated or blistered following treatment avoid the use of exfoliants, loofa sponges, or aggressive scrubbing during the healing phase, and be especially careful if any peeling is present.
Avoid shaving with a razor for the first 2-3 days after treatment.

The hair will not fall out tonight. The hair exfoliation can take up to 2-4 weeks after each treatment to shed. You can help this process along with the gentle use of a washcloth or loofa sponge 4-5 days after treatment.
6-12 sessions approximately 4-8 weeks apart are recommended.
Immediately following treatment, you may experience small bumps, redness, and/or minor swelling of the skin, similar to a mild sunburn. These normal tissue effects are temporary and will usually disappear over the next 24 hours. A soothing aloe vera gel or cold packs may be used to ease any discomfort. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Advil) may also reduce post-treatment discomfort. DO NOT use aspirin or antihistamine.
A small percentage of individuals may experience blistering or peeling of the skin. The peeling is similar to the effects of a sunburn, and it is recommended that the peeling skin not be removed as it may lead to scarring. If the skin blisters, and over the counter antibiotic such as polysporin may be helpful.

Although Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is considered safe, there are some potential side effects and risks involved. Understanding the dangers of laser treatment can help clients make informed decisions about their care.
Short-term potential side effects of IPL include:
Redness
Edema (swelling)
Itching
Pain, tingling or feeling of numbness
Crusting or scab formation
Blistering
Bruising
Purpura (purple colouring of the skin) on tanned areas
Temporary pigment change (hypo-pigmentation or hyper-pigmentation)
These side effects occur infrequently and symptoms typically go away within a few hours of treatment.

Advanced Facial Peels

An advanced facial peel also known as a chemical peel is a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone. Facial skin is mostly treated to help correct the skins pH. Peels are intended to remove the outermost layers of the skin, to breakdown dead skin cells causing exfoliation and promoting new skin growth. You can choose from a light peel or a more aggressive peel. To achieve best results 3-6 peels are recommended.

Lactic Peels are derived from milk and used for sensitive and darker skinned types.
Glycolic 20%, 30% 40% peels are derived from sugar cane and used on normal aging/elements exposed and some acne skin types.

Stop retinols, AHA’s or BHA’s (acids) 1 week before peel
